
Geshe Larampa Sonam Jangchup
I was born in Nepal and came to India at a very young age. I studied Five Major Treatises at Gaden Jangtse College, receiving Geshe Lharam Degree in 2020, after which I joined Gyudmed Tantric College for tantra studies for a year.
I also served as a teacher at our monastery’s school for three years before receiving my Geshe Lharampa Degree. In 2016, while studying for my Geshe Degree, I joined Tibetan Translation & Research Institute. I have been working here as a translator and an assistant editor.

Sonam Gyal
My name is Sonam Gyal, alias Loma Gyal, and I am a translator and assistant editor at the Tibetan Translation and Research Institute. I was born in the town of Bidu, Amdo region, Eastern Tibet, and studied Tibetan, Chinese, science and history until high school in Tibet.
In 2006, I escaped to India and studied Tibetan history, English, Tibetan language, mathematics, science, social science and computer science at Tibetan Village School, HP, India till 2010.
In order to obtain a higher education in the field of Tibetan Buddhism and philosophy, I pursued my studies at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarnath, Varanas, UP, India, where I studied Buddhist philosophy and Tibetan and English literature, before joining the Tibetan Translation and Research Institute in 2016.

Ngawang Kunga
My name is Ngawang Kunga, and I am a translator and layout editor at the Tibetan Translation and Research Institute. I was born in Tibet in the year 1987. I studied at the school in my village before joining Sete Monastery, in accordance with my mom’s wish.
Under the supervision of my root spiritual teacher, Ngawang Gedun Tendhar, I studied Tibetan language, Buddhist philosophy, and traditional arts. Then I joined the Tibetan Medical Institute of Malho district in eastern Tibet.
After escaping to India in 2006, I studied English and computer at Tibetan Transit School. In 2010, I enrolled at Norbulingka Institute, where I studied Tibetan history, literature, Buddhism, English and Chinese. I graduated with B.A in Tibetan Studies from Norbulingka Institute.
I had also a brief opportunity to pursue my studies further at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies in Varanasi before I joined Tibetan Translation and Research Institute in 2016.

Zasi Dechen
Having studied Pramana and Prajnaparamita at Sera Monastery in Tibet, I fled to India in 2005, where I first continued my studies at Sera Monastery which was reestablished in South India.
From 2010 to 2013, I studied at Norbulingka Institute, graduating with BA in Tibetan Studies and English language. And I got my MA in Tibetan literature from College for Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarah in 2016, before I joined Tibetan Translation & Research Institute, where I am a translator as well as an assistant editor.

Tamdin Tsering
My name is Tamdin Tsering and I studied at the Tibetan Children Village (TCV) school in Suja, Himachal Pradesh, until 2015. Afterwards, I completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and a Master of Arts (MA) until 2021. During my BA and MA, I was an executive member of the Tibetan Youth Congress, Rohini (RTYC), Delhi, India, an executive member of the Student Council in the Tibetan Youth Hostel, a council member of the Global Tibetan Student Union (GTSU) and a member of Student for Free Tibet, India (SFT).
I joined the Tibetan Translation and Research Institute in September 2023. I have translated children’s books including Dolphins at daybreak and Night of the Ninjas as well as edited books by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, which were translated by colleagues.

Dipo Tso
In 2006, I left Tibet and came to India to pursue an education that was otherwise inaccessible in my homeland. I began my studies at TCV Suja School, a residential school for over a thousand Tibetan refugee children. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Tibetan Language and Literature from the Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education in 2018.
Following my undergraduate studies, I served as a lecturer at the Norbulingka Institute for two years, where I had the opportunity to deepen my understanding of Tibetan culture and literature. In 2020, I returned to the Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education to pursue a Master of Arts in Tibetan Literature, which I completed in 2022.
Upon completing my M.A., I joined the Tibetan Translation & Research Institute as a translator. In this role, I have contributed to the translation of several significant works, including:

- The Foundation of Buddhist Practice (in translation)
